Ruppert Stadium (Newark)

Ruppert Stadium was a baseball park located in Newark, New Jersey, named after Jacob Ruppert, the owner of the New York Yankees. Primarily used by the Newark Bears of the International League, it served as their home field from its construction in 1926 until the team relocated in 1949.

The stadium was situated at the intersection of Avon Avenue and Rose Street. It had a seating capacity of approximately 25,000. In addition to hosting minor league baseball games, Ruppert Stadium also hosted Negro League games, particularly those of the Newark Eagles. It was known for its large dimensions, especially its deep center field.

Following the departure of the Newark Bears, Ruppert Stadium fell into disuse and was eventually demolished in the early 1960s.
