HMS Daring (D32)
HMS Daring (D32) is a Type 45 destroyer of the Royal Navy. She is the lead ship of her class, also known as the Daring-class or Type 45 destroyers. These destroyers are primarily designed for air defence, capable of protecting a task force from aerial threats, including advanced anti-ship missiles.
Daring was built by BAE Systems Naval Ships in Scotstoun, Glasgow. She was launched on 1 February 2006 and commissioned into the Royal Navy on 23 July 2009.
Her primary armament includes the Sea Viper air defence system, which uses the Sampson multi-function radar and Aster missiles to intercept targets. She also carries a 4.5-inch Mark 8 naval gun for shore bombardment and surface engagement. Other weaponry includes Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) for defense against close-range threats and small arms.
Daring is equipped with advanced radar and sensor systems, providing comprehensive situational awareness. Her crew complement is approximately 190 officers and ratings.
Since commissioning, HMS Daring has been deployed on various operations and exercises around the world, including maritime security operations and humanitarian aid missions.
