HMAS Fremantle (J246)
HMAS Fremantle (J246) was one of sixty Australian minesweepers built during World War II. She was a Bathurst-class corvette of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Laid down by Mort's Dock & Engineering Co. Ltd at Balmain, New South Wales, on 16 July 1941, she was launched on 27 February 1942 and commissioned on 3 October 1942.
During her service, HMAS Fremantle primarily served as a convoy escort and performed anti-submarine patrols in Australian waters. She participated in several significant convoy operations and contributed to the defense of Australia's maritime approaches.
Following the end of World War II, HMAS Fremantle was decommissioned and paid off. She was later sold for scrap.
