HD 192263

HD 192263 is a star located in the constellation Lyra. Its designation comes from the Henry Draper Catalogue. It is a K-type main-sequence star with a spectral classification of K2 V. This indicates that it is a relatively cool, orange-colored star that is currently fusing hydrogen in its core, similar to the Sun but smaller and cooler. The star is located approximately 64 light-years away from the Solar System.

The HD 192263 system is known to host at least one extrasolar planet. This planet, designated HD 192263 b, was one of the first exoplanets discovered around a K-type star using the radial velocity method, which detects wobbles in the star caused by the gravitational pull of orbiting planets.

HD 192263 b is a gas giant planet, sometimes referred to as a "hot Jupiter" although its orbital period is longer than many typical hot Jupiters. It orbits the parent star at a distance of about 0.15 astronomical units (AU), which is significantly closer than Mercury is to the Sun. It completes one orbit around HD 192263 in approximately 24.13 days. The planet has a minimum mass estimated to be around 0.7 times the mass of Jupiter.
