Gary Anderson (swimmer)

Gary Anderson is a retired American swimmer who competed primarily in distance freestyle events. He represented the United States at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, where he won a gold medal as a member of the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay team. He also placed 5th in the 400 meter freestyle. Prior to the Olympics, Anderson set a world record in the 400 meter freestyle. He attended the University of Southern California (USC) and swam for the USC Trojans swimming and diving team. His contributions to competitive swimming were most notable in the late 1960s.
