Freddy García (infielder)

Freddy García (born October 1, 1961) is a former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles (1984-1986), Cleveland Indians (1988), and Detroit Tigers (1989). Primarily a shortstop and second baseman, García was known for his defensive versatility and speed. He was originally signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur free agent in 1978. García's MLB career spanned parts of six seasons, during which he appeared in 195 games, accumulating 352 at-bats, a .216 batting average, 76 hits, 1 home run, and 18 RBIs. After his playing career, García worked as a coach and instructor.
