Florey (crater)

Florey is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon. It lies to the southwest of the larger crater Fischer, and northeast of von Neumann.

This crater is a moderately eroded formation. A small crater lies across the southern rim, and several smaller craterlets lie along the edge and inner walls. The interior floor is relatively featureless, with only a few tiny impacts. The outer rim has become somewhat rounded and indistinct due to subsequent impacts and erosion.

The crater is named after Howard Florey, Baron Florey, an Australian pharmacologist and pathologist who shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1945 for his role in the discovery of penicillin.
