Journey (band)

Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973. The band has gone through several phases, initially starting as a progressive rock outfit before shifting to a more commercially accessible arena rock style.

Journey achieved its greatest commercial success between 1978 and 1987, releasing a string of hit songs and albums, including "Don't Stop Believin'," "Open Arms," "Separate Ways," and "Faithfully." Their 1981 album, Escape, reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned several hit singles.

Key members of Journey have included lead vocalists Steve Perry, Steve Augeri, and Arnel Pineda; guitarists Neal Schon and George Tickner; keyboardists Gregg Rolie, Jonathan Cain, and Steve Smith; bassists Ross Valory and Randy Jackson; and drummers Aynsley Dunbar, Steve Smith, and Deen Castronovo.

Journey is known for its soaring vocals, melodic songwriting, and instrumental virtuosity. Their music has been featured in numerous films, television shows, and video games, contributing to their enduring popularity. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. Despite lineup changes over the years, Journey continues to tour and record music.
