Tei Shi
Tei Shi is the stage name of Valerie Teicher Barbosa (born September 4, 1990), a Colombian-Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her music blends elements of dream pop, R&B, and electronic music, often characterized by ethereal vocals and atmospheric production.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Colombian parents, Tei Shi was raised in Bogotá, Colombia; Vancouver, Canada; and Boston, Massachusetts. This multicultural upbringing has influenced her diverse musical style.
Tei Shi first gained attention with her early singles and EPs, including "M&Ms" and the Saudade EP (2013) and Verde EP (2015). Her debut studio album, Crawl Space, was released in 2017. She followed this with her second album, La Linda, in 2019, which further explored themes of identity and cultural heritage, sung primarily in Spanish. Tei Shi continues to release music and collaborate with other artists. Her work is notable for its distinctive sound and her introspective songwriting.
