Flintlock (band)

Flintlock was a British glam rock band active in the mid-1970s. They were known for their distinctive pirate-themed image and stage show, which included eye patches, bandanas, and nautical attire. The band's music combined hard rock elements with catchy melodies and often incorporated sea shanty-esque vocal harmonies.

Flintlock's original lineup consisted of Mike Holoway (drums/vocals), Derek Griffiths (guitar/vocals), Bill Rice (bass), John Summerton (guitar/vocals), and later, Ricky Hitchcock (guitar). Mike Holoway, who was previously a child actor, served as the band's frontman and was a prominent figure in their visual presentation.

They achieved commercial success in the UK with singles such as "Davy Crockett," "Who's That Knocking," and "I Want You To Want Me," (a cover of the Cheap Trick song, predating Cheap Trick's own hit version). Their debut album, Flintlock, was released in 1975.

Despite their initial popularity, Flintlock's career was relatively short-lived. They released several more singles and albums, but failed to maintain their early momentum. The band eventually disbanded in the late 1970s. While they are not considered a major force in glam rock history, they remain a notable example of the genre's more theatrical and image-conscious acts. Their music continues to be appreciated by fans of 1970s glam rock and novelty rock.
