Fife (Parliament of Scotland constituency)

Fife is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood). It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the first past the post method of election. It is also one of nine constituencies in the Mid Scotland and Fife electoral region, which elects seven additional members, in addition to the nine constituency MSPs, to produce a form of proportional representation for the region as a whole.

The Fife constituency was created at the same time as the Scottish Parliament, in 1999, with the name and boundaries defined by the Scotland Act 1998. It largely replaced the former Westminster constituency of Fife Central.

The constituency covers a central area of the Fife council area, including towns such as Glenrothes.

Historically, the seat has been held primarily by the Labour Party. Since 2016, it has been held by the Scottish National Party (SNP).

For the 2011 Scottish Parliament election, the boundaries of the Fife constituency were altered to take into account local government boundary changes.
