Fallen (1998 film)
Fallen is a 1998 American supernatural thriller film directed by Gregory Hoblit, written by Nicholas Kazan, and starring Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland, Embeth Davidtz, and Elias Koteas.
The film centers on John Hobbes (Washington), a Philadelphia police detective investigating a series of murders seemingly committed by an executed serial killer, Edgar Reese (Elias Koteas). Hobbes soon discovers that the killings are actually being perpetrated by the demon Azazel, who possesses people through touch and is capable of moving from body to body. Azazel taunts Hobbes throughout the film, creating a complex and terrifying game of cat and mouse.
The film explores themes of good versus evil, fate, and the nature of possession. Hobbes is forced to confront his own moral code as he struggles to stop Azazel, who uses innocent people as vessels.
