Faith Based (film)
Faith Based is a 2020 American satirical comedy film directed by Vincent Masciale and written by Luke Skjoldager and Tanner Thomason. The film stars Luke Skjoldager and Tanner Thomason as Devin and Mitch, two perpetually unemployed brothers-in-law who discover that faith-based films are a lucrative business. They decide to make their own Christian movie, despite lacking any actual religious conviction or film-making talent, in an attempt to get rich quickly.
The film parodies and satirizes the Christian film industry, highlighting perceived formulaic storytelling, low production values, and the potential for exploitation within the genre. It utilizes humor, often of an irreverent nature, to explore themes of faith, family, and the pursuit of profit.
Faith Based also features performances by David A.R. White, Margaret Loesch, Lance Barber, Marlon Young, Richard Riehle, and Jason Alexander. The film was released on October 9, 2020, receiving mixed reviews from critics.
