Esther Jones (athlete)
Esther Jones (born April 7, 1969) is a retired American track and field athlete, primarily known for her accomplishments as a sprinter. She competed in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4x100 meter relay. Jones won a gold medal in the 4x100 meter relay at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, running the third leg for the United States team. She also competed in the 100 meters at the same Olympics, reaching the semi-finals. Before her Olympic success, Jones competed collegiately for Louisiana State University (LSU), where she achieved All-American status and contributed to multiple NCAA championships for the LSU Tigers track and field team. Her personal best times include 10.97 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.52 seconds in the 200 meters. After retiring from competitive athletics, Jones has remained involved in the sport as a coach and mentor.
