Erin Gee (artist)
Erin Gee (born 1974, Chicago) is a Canadian artist working primarily with interactive and biofeedback-based performance art, sculpture, and video. Her practice explores themes of emotional labor, technological interfaces, and the subjective experience of emotion. Gee is known for her "bio-art" pieces that utilize sensors to translate physiological data, such as facial muscle movements associated with emotional states, into sound, light, or robotic movement. These installations often involve performers or participants wearing facial interfaces that directly affect the artwork’s behavior.
Gee's work frequently incorporates elements of new media art, performance art, and sound art, creating immersive and often unsettling environments. Her pieces often investigate the commercialization of emotions, the impact of technology on human interaction, and the quantification of subjective experience. She has exhibited her work internationally in galleries, museums, and festivals.
