Erik Schmidt (painter)

Erik Schmidt (born 1930, died 2007) was a German painter known for his realistic and often unsettling depictions of everyday life in post-war Germany. He is associated with the "Hamburg School" of painting, a group of artists who emerged in the 1960s and 70s and focused on a critical and often bleak portrayal of society.
