Edward John (British politician)

Edward John (born 16 May 1930, died 13 October 2000) was a British Labour Party politician.

John was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Carmarthen and University College of Wales, Aberystwyth where he gained a BSc. He worked as a solicitor.

He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pontypridd from 1970 to 1989. He was a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Welsh Office from 1975 to 1979 in the Labour government.

Following his departure from Parliament, he pursued other interests and kept a relatively low public profile.
