Edmundoa
Edmundoa is a genus of flowering plants in the family Bromeliaceae, subfamily Bromelioideae. These epiphytic or terrestrial plants are native to southeastern Brazil. Edmundoa are characterized by their relatively compact rosette of stiff, spiny-margined leaves and their inflorescence, which features showy, brightly colored bracts surrounding the small, often inconspicuous flowers.
Edmundoa species are typically found in humid forests and are prized by plant collectors for their ornamental value. The genus is named in honor of Brazilian botanist Edmundo Pereira. Several species, such as Edmundoa lindenii, are popular cultivated bromeliads. Propagation is generally achieved through offsets or seed. Careful attention to drainage and humidity is important in cultivation.
