DuckTales (video game)
DuckTales is a platform game developed by Capcom and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989. It is based on the Disney animated television series of the same name. Players control Scrooge McDuck as he travels the world in search of five legendary treasures to further increase his wealth.
The gameplay involves traversing various levels, each with a unique theme and set of obstacles. Scrooge's primary attack method is his cane, which he uses to bounce on enemies and objects, a maneuver known as the "pogo jump." He can also use his cane to hit enemies directly. The game features nonlinear gameplay, allowing players to choose the order in which they tackle certain levels.
DuckTales was a commercial success and is widely regarded as one of the best video games on the NES. It is praised for its engaging gameplay, vibrant graphics, memorable music composed by Hiroshige Tonomura, and faithfulness to the source material. The game's difficulty is considered moderate, offering a challenge without being overly frustrating.
A remastered version of the game, titled DuckTales: Remastered, was developed by WayForward Technologies and released in 2013 for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. This version features updated graphics, fully voiced characters (including many of the original voice actors from the animated series), and an expanded storyline.
