Don Fleming (musician)

Don Fleming (born September 25, 1957) is an American musician, producer, and filmmaker, primarily known for his contributions to the alternative rock and psychedelic music scenes.

Fleming first gained recognition as a member of the band Velvet Monkeys, known for their eclectic and often humorous approach to rock music. He later formed the band Gumball, which achieved moderate success in the early 1990s with a sound that blended garage rock, psychedelia, and power pop. Gumball released several albums and toured extensively.

Beyond his own bands, Fleming is a highly sought-after producer. He has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Sonic Youth, Teenage Fanclub, Hole, Screaming Trees, The Posies, and Joan Jett. His production style often emphasizes raw energy and sonic experimentation.

Fleming has also been involved in filmmaking, including directing and producing music videos and documentaries. He is recognized for his contributions to the preservation and promotion of independent music and art. He is also actively involved in archiving and preserving the work of outsider musician Jandek.
