Don Casey
Don Casey (born June 17, 1937) is an American former professional basketball coach. He served as the head coach for several teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA), including the Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, and Toronto Raptors.
Casey’s NBA coaching career began as an assistant coach. He became the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers for a portion of the 1989-90 season, stepping in mid-season. He later served as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers for part of the 1990-91 season.
Perhaps most notably, Casey was the first head coach in the history of the Toronto Raptors, leading the expansion team from its inaugural 1995-96 season through the 1997-98 season. During his tenure with the Raptors, he guided the team through its initial development stages, building a foundation for future success. He played a key role in establishing the Raptors' identity and culture within the NBA. After his time with the Raptors, Casey continued to be involved in basketball, often serving as an assistant coach for various NBA teams. He is considered a respected figure within the professional basketball community.
