Dolphin F.C. (Nigeria)
Dolphin F.C. was a Nigerian professional football club based in Port Harcourt. Founded in 2000, the club was owned by the Rivers State government. Dolphin F.C. played its home matches at the Liberation Stadium. The club's traditional colors were blue and white.
Dolphin F.C. achieved notable success in Nigerian football, winning the Nigerian Premier League title in 2004 and 2011. They also won the Nigerian FA Cup (formerly known as the Challenge Cup) on four occasions: 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2007.
In addition to domestic achievements, Dolphin F.C. participated in African continental competitions, including the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
In 2016, Dolphin F.C. was merged with Sharks F.C. to form Rivers United F.C. This merger was part of a restructuring effort by the Rivers State government to consolidate its football resources and create a stronger, more competitive team. As a result of the merger, Dolphin F.C. ceased to exist as a separate entity.
