Delta Phi Epsilon (social)

Delta Phi Epsilon is an international social sorority founded on March 17, 1917, at New York University Law School by five women: Dorothy Cohen Schwartzman, Ida Bienstock Landau, Minna Goldsmith Mahler, Eva Effron Robin, and Sylvia Steierman Cohn. It is one of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities and is identified by its letters ΔΦΕ.

Delta Phi Epsilon's colors are Royal Purple and Pure Gold, and its mascot is the Unicorn. Its official flower is the Lovely Purple Iris. The sorority's motto is "Esse Quam Videri," which is Latin for "To be rather than to seem."

The organization focuses on academic achievement, community service, leadership development, and social activities. Delta Phi Epsilon has three international philanthropies: the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD), and the Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation. Chapters actively raise funds and awareness for these organizations through various events and initiatives.

Delta Phi Epsilon strives to provide its members with opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and lifelong sisterhood. The sorority aims to empower women to become confident and successful individuals who contribute positively to their communities. Membership is typically open to undergraduate women enrolled in accredited colleges and universities that host a Delta Phi Epsilon chapter.
