David Brown (cricketer, born 1900)
David Brown (12 May 1900 – 28 October 1971) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1922 and 1930.
Born in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, Brown made his debut for Derbyshire in the 1922 season against Essex, scoring 37 in his first innings. He played six matches in his first season, and achieved a top score of 43. In the 1923 season, he played 27 matches, but did not achieve a score over 50. Brown played 25 matches in the 1924 season and made his top score of 68 against Yorkshire. In the 1925 season, he played 24 matches but his best score was only 39.
In the 1926 season, Brown played 15 matches and made his only century, 110 against Leicestershire. In the 1927 season, he played 14 matches. His appearances declined after this and he played four matches in the 1928 season, one match in the 1929 season and two matches in the 1930 season.
Brown was a right-handed batsman and played 118 innings in 74 first-class matches with an average of 16.05 and a top score of 110. He took one catch. He was a right-arm medium-fast bowler and took 2 wickets at an average of 53.50.
Brown died in Ilkeston at the age of 71.
