Dan Boyle (ice hockey)

Dan Boyle (born July 12, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenseman. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers.

Boyle began his NHL career with the Florida Panthers after being signed as an undrafted free agent. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2002, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2004. Known for his offensive abilities, particularly his skating and passing, Boyle was a key player on the Lightning's power play and overall team success.

In 2008, Boyle was traded to the San Jose Sharks, where he continued to be a top defenseman and an offensive contributor. He spent six seasons with the Sharks, becoming an alternate captain and earning widespread recognition for his play.

He concluded his NHL career with the New York Rangers, playing two seasons before retiring in 2016.

Throughout his career, Boyle was recognized for his skill and leadership, earning several All-Star Game selections. He also represented Canada internationally, winning a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He was known for his offensive prowess, skating ability, and playmaking from the blue line. His playing style made him a valuable asset to each team he played for, and he is remembered as one of the top offensive defensemen of his era.
