Consort Yang (Zhenzong)

Consort Yang (楊淑妃), also known as Consort Shu Yang, was a concubine of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song dynasty in China. Born Yang Shunan (楊姝楠), she entered the palace as a palace lady.

While the exact date of her birth and entry into the palace are unrecorded, historical sources indicate that she served Emperor Zhenzong for a significant period. She eventually received the title of Consort Shu (淑妃), a relatively high rank among imperial concubines.

Consort Yang was known for her gentle and virtuous character. Although she did not bear any children to Emperor Zhenzong, she maintained a good relationship with Empress Liu. Following Emperor Zhenzong's death and the ascension of Emperor Renzong, Consort Yang continued to live in the palace, respected and cared for. Further details regarding her life after Zhenzong's reign are scarce. Her death date is also unknown. However, she remains a minor historical figure due to her position in the imperial harem during a pivotal period in Song dynasty history.
