Conexant
Conexant was a semiconductor company specializing in solutions for imaging, audio, embedded modem, and video applications. Founded in 1999 as a spin-off from Rockwell International's semiconductor division, Conexant was headquartered in Irvine, California.
The company primarily focused on providing integrated circuits and software for a variety of markets including personal computers, consumer electronics devices such as set-top boxes and digital televisions, and broadband communications equipment. Their products often involved mixed-signal processing, combining analog and digital technologies.
Conexant's portfolio included audio codecs, modem chipsets, imaging solutions, and embedded processors. They served both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) across the globe.
Over time, Conexant underwent several changes including acquisitions and divestitures. In 2011, it merged with GlobespanVirata to form Conexant Systems, Inc. Later, in 2017, Conexant Systems was acquired by Synaptics Incorporated. While the Conexant name is no longer used as an independent company, Synaptics continues to leverage the technologies and expertise developed by Conexant in their product offerings. The brand and certain associated products may persist within Synaptics' overall portfolio.
