Climax (Beastmilk album)

Climax is the debut studio album by Finnish post-punk/deathrock band Beastmilk, released on November 29, 2013, through Svart Records. The album is considered a cornerstone of the revival of the deathrock and post-punk genres in the early 2010s.

The album's sound is characterized by its driving rhythms, melodic guitar lines, and distinctive vocals from frontman Mat McNerney (also known as Kvohst). Climax blends elements of Joy Division, Christian Death, and Killing Joke, creating a dark and atmospheric soundscape that is both haunting and captivating. Lyrically, the album explores themes of apocalypse, societal decay, and existential dread, often drawing on religious imagery and symbolism.

Climax received widespread critical acclaim upon its release, praised for its originality, musicianship, and powerful atmosphere. It helped to establish Beastmilk as a leading force in the underground music scene and garnered them a dedicated following. The album’s success led to international touring and further solidified the band's reputation. Following the release and subsequent touring, Beastmilk disbanded and reformed as Grave Pleasures, continuing to explore similar themes and musical styles.
