Chudleigh

Chudleigh is a town and civil parish in Devon, England, situated on the A38 road between Exeter and Newton Abbot. It lies within the Teignbridge local government district.

Historically a market town, Chudleigh has a rich history, evidenced by its ancient church, Roman road connections, and references in the Domesday Book. The town was largely destroyed by fire in 1807, but was subsequently rebuilt.

The name Chudleigh is believed to derive from the Celtic Cuda-leah, meaning "Cuda's clearing" or "Cuda's wood".
