Chris Abbott (ice hockey)
Chris Abbott (born July 14, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played primarily in Europe after a brief stint in North America.
Abbott played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Sudbury Wolves. He was known as a skilled offensive player during his time in the OHL.
Following his junior career, Abbott played several seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the ECHL, seeking to establish himself in North American professional hockey.
He then transitioned to playing professionally in Europe. Abbott spent the majority of his career in European leagues, including playing in Sweden's Elitserien (now the Swedish Hockey League, SHL), Switzerland's National League A (NLA), and other European professional leagues. He was often a key offensive contributor to his teams.
Abbott is the older brother of Cam Abbott, who is also a former professional ice hockey player and currently a coach. The two brothers played together on several occasions during their professional careers, including in the SHL.
