Cameron Murray (rugby league)
Cameron Murray (born January 16, 1998) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently captains the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the National Rugby League (NRL). He primarily plays as a lock, but is also capable of playing as a second-row forward or at hooker.
Murray was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and is of Indigenous Australian (Torres Strait Islander) and Scottish descent. He played his junior rugby league for the Mascot Jets before being signed by the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
He made his NRL debut for South Sydney in 2017. Murray quickly established himself as a key member of the Rabbitohs forward pack due to his high work rate, strong tackling ability, and effective ball-playing skills.
Murray has represented New South Wales in the State of Origin series. He has also represented Australia internationally, playing for the Kangaroos. He was named Dally M Lock of the Year in 2019 and 2023.
Recognized for his leadership qualities, Murray was appointed captain of the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2023. He is known for his commitment to the club and his dedication to representing his community. He is considered one of the leading forwards in the NRL.
