Cadet (rapper)

Cadet (4 March 1990 – 9 February 2019), born Blaine Cameron Johnson, was a British rapper and grime artist from South London. He was known for his storytelling ability, introspective lyrics, and distinctive flow within the UK rap and grime scenes.

Initially associated with the Krept & Konan-affiliated Gipset crew, Cadet gained wider recognition through a series of freestyle videos, particularly his "Slut" freestyle. He followed this with well-received tracks like "Stereotype" and "Instagram Girls." Cadet’s music often explored themes of relationships, societal issues, and personal experiences, which resonated with a broad audience.

Cadet released two EPs, The Commitment (2016) and The Commitment 2 (2017), further solidifying his position as a prominent figure in UK music. He collaborated with a number of established artists, including Krept & Konan, Wiley, and Stefflon Don.

His debut album, The Rated Legend, was released posthumously in 2020 and reached number 12 on the UK Albums Chart. It included previously unreleased material and collaborations with various artists, serving as a tribute to his life and musical legacy.

Cadet tragically died in a car accident in February 2019 at the age of 28, cutting short a promising career. His music continues to be celebrated for its honesty, vulnerability, and impact on the UK rap landscape.
