Bullseye (philately)

In philately, a "bullseye" refers to a stamp cancellation where the town or postmark name is perfectly centered on the stamp. Ideally, the entire circular date stamp falls within the boundaries of the stamp itself, with the center of the circle aligned with the center of the stamp. Collectors prize bullseye cancellations due to their aesthetic appeal and relative scarcity, as achieving perfect centering is largely a matter of chance during the mail canceling process. The clarity and legibility of the postmark are also factors that contribute to the desirability and value of a bullseye cancellation.
