Bob Harrison (basketball)
Bob Harrison (born August 12, 1927, Toledo, Ohio; died January 5, 2024, Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American professional basketball player. A 6'1" guard, Harrison played in the National Basketball League (NBL), the Basketball Association of America (BAA), and the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1949 to 1958.
Harrison played college basketball at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a two-time All-American. He then began his professional career with the Rochester Royals in the NBL for the 1949-50 season. When the NBL and BAA merged to form the NBA in 1949, Harrison continued to play with the Royals. He was a key member of the Royals team that won the NBA championship in 1951, alongside fellow stars like Arnie Risen and Bobby Wanzer.
Harrison was known for his defensive prowess and playmaking abilities. He was a four-time NBA All-Star (1953, 1954, 1955, 1956). After spending several years with the Royals, Harrison was traded to the Milwaukee Hawks during the 1957-58 season. He finished his NBA career with the St. Louis Hawks later that same season.
Following his playing career, Harrison worked as a basketball coach and scout.
