Southern Exposure (album)

Southern Exposure is a studio album by American bluegrass and country artist Ricky Skaggs, released in 1984. The album marked a continuation of Skaggs' neo-traditionalist approach to country music, blending bluegrass instrumentation with contemporary country arrangements. It was released by Epic Records.

The album produced several hit singles, including "Country Boy", "Don't Cheat In Our Hometown", and "Uncle Pen", which was a tribute to bluegrass legend Bill Monroe. These songs, along with other tracks on the album, contributed to Skaggs' commercial success and cemented his role in the resurgence of traditional country sounds during the 1980s.

Southern Exposure was generally well-received by critics, who praised Skaggs' musicianship, vocal performance, and the quality of the songwriting and production. The album helped Skaggs win the Country Music Association's Album of the Year award in 1985.
