Bernard O'Reilly (bishop of Liverpool)

Bernard O'Reilly (1803-1894) was an Irish Roman Catholic clergyman who served as the third Bishop of Liverpool.

Born in County Longford, Ireland, O'Reilly studied at St Patrick's College, Maynooth, and was ordained to the priesthood. He served in various parishes in Ireland before being appointed Bishop of Liverpool by Pope Leo XIII in 1873. He succeeded Alexander Goss.

As Bishop of Liverpool, O'Reilly oversaw the growth of the Catholic Church in the diocese, including the establishment of new parishes and schools. He was a strong advocate for Catholic education and played a significant role in the development of Catholic schools in the region.

O'Reilly was known for his piety and his dedication to serving the needs of the Catholic community in Liverpool. He remained Bishop until his death in 1894. He is buried at St. Edward's College, Liverpool.
