Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italy)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italian: Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale), also known as the Farnesina (from the Palazzo della Farnesina, its seat), is the government department responsible for Italy's foreign policy and international relations.

Its primary functions include representing Italy in international organizations and institutions, promoting Italian interests abroad, negotiating international treaties and agreements, protecting Italian citizens and businesses overseas, and fostering international cooperation and development. The Ministry also plays a significant role in the European Union's foreign policy initiatives.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is a member of the Italian cabinet and is responsible for directing and coordinating the Ministry's activities. The Ministry is structured into various departments and directorates-general, each specializing in specific geographical regions or thematic areas, such as political affairs, economic affairs, cultural promotion, and development cooperation.

The current headquarters of the Ministry, Palazzo della Farnesina, is located in Rome and is one of the largest buildings in Italy.
