Behnsdorf
Behnsdorf is a municipality in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is located approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Magdeburg. The municipality is part of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Elbe-Heide.
Behnsdorf is a primarily rural community, characterized by agriculture. Historical records and local lore suggest the village has roots extending back several centuries, although precise founding dates are often debated. Like many villages in the region, Behnsdorf likely experienced periods of growth and decline tied to larger political and economic events in German history.
The current administrative structure of Behnsdorf reflects its integration within the larger Börde district and the Elbe-Heide Verbandsgemeinde. This structure provides a framework for local governance, resource management, and service provision.
While lacking large-scale industrial development, Behnsdorf contributes to the regional economy through agricultural production and, increasingly, through residents commuting to nearby urban centers such as Magdeburg for employment.
