Ashland station (CTA Green and Pink Lines)
Ashland station is a rapid transit station on the Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Green and Pink Lines. Located in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, it is situated at 1601 West Lake Street, at the intersection of Ashland Avenue and Lake Street.
The station serves as a transfer point between the Green and Pink Lines, though passengers transferring between the lines often find it faster to transfer at other stations along the shared portion of the route (e.g., Clark/Lake). Ashland station provides access to the surrounding residential and commercial areas, including the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks, accessible via a bus connection.
Originally built as part of the Metropolitan West Side Elevated Railroad in 1895, the station has undergone various renovations and modifications throughout its history. The current configuration features two side platforms serving two tracks. The station is accessible via stairs and an elevator.
During weekday rush hours, Pink Line trains often terminate at Ashland, providing increased frequency of service along the Pink Line's core route into downtown Chicago.
