As Sihib

As Sihib is a term used in Islamic finance to refer to the partners in a Mudarabah agreement. In a Mudarabah, one party (the Rabb-ul-Mal) provides the capital and the other party (the Mudarib), in this case the As Sihib, manages the investment with the intention of generating profit. The As Sihib is essentially the working partner, contributing their expertise and effort. The profit generated is shared between the Rabb-ul-Mal and the As Sihib according to a pre-agreed ratio. Losses, if any, are borne solely by the Rabb-ul-Mal, unless the loss is due to negligence or breach of contract on the part of the As Sihib. The term helps distinguish the managing partner within this specific Islamic finance contract.
