Andrew D. Holt

Andrew D. Holt was an American academic administrator and educator. He served as the 15th president of the University of Tennessee from 1959 to 1970.

Holt's tenure at the University of Tennessee was marked by significant growth and expansion of the institution. He oversaw a period of increasing enrollment, the development of new academic programs, and the construction of numerous campus facilities. He also played a key role in the university's desegregation efforts.

Prior to his presidency, Holt held various positions in education, including serving as the president of Middle Tennessee State College (now Middle Tennessee State University). He also served in the Tennessee state government, including a role as Commissioner of Education.
