Andrea Guerra (composer)

Andrea Guerra (born October 22, 1961, in Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy) is an Italian film and television composer. He is best known for his scores for films such as Hotel Rwanda (2004), The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), The Last Station (2009), and Letters to Juliet (2010).

Guerra comes from a musical family; his father was a poet and screenwriter, and his brother is a musician. He began his musical career playing keyboards in various Italian bands. In the 1990s, he transitioned to composing for film, initially scoring Italian productions.

His breakthrough internationally came with Hotel Rwanda, for which he received significant critical acclaim. He has since worked on a variety of projects, ranging from dramas to comedies, demonstrating a versatile compositional style.

Guerra's work is characterized by its emotional depth and ability to enhance the narrative power of the films he scores. He often incorporates elements of world music into his compositions, reflecting the diverse settings of the films he works on. He has been nominated for several awards for his work, including a European Film Award.
