Anders Andersson (footballer)

Anders Andersson (born March 15, 1974) is a Swedish former professional footballer who primarily played as a midfielder. He is best known for his time with IFK Norrköping, Blackburn Rovers, and Benfica.

Andersson began his professional career with IFK Norrköping in 1992, quickly establishing himself as a key player. His performances attracted attention from abroad, leading to a transfer to English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers in 1997. He played for Blackburn for two seasons before moving to Portuguese club Benfica in 1999.

At Benfica, Andersson enjoyed a successful period, becoming a regular in the team and a popular figure with the fans. He remained with the club until 2004. Following his departure from Benfica, he returned to Sweden, playing for IFK Norrköping again before retiring from professional football.

Andersson was also a regular in the Swedish national team, earning over 20 caps. He represented Sweden at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
