Alinghi
Alinghi is the name of a Swiss yacht racing syndicate founded by Ernesto Bertarelli. It is most notable for winning the America's Cup in 2003 and 2007.
Alinghi's victory in 2003 marked the first time a team representing a landlocked nation had won the America's Cup. They defeated Team New Zealand off the coast of Auckland, New Zealand.
In 2007, Alinghi successfully defended the America's Cup in Valencia, Spain, defeating Emirates Team New Zealand. This victory was significant as it kept the Cup in Europe for the first time since the very first race in 1851.
The team challenged BMW Oracle Racing in the 33rd America's Cup in 2010, which was held in Valencia. Alinghi lost the series, resulting in the Cup returning to the United States.
Beyond the America's Cup, Alinghi has also participated in other sailing events, including the Extreme Sailing Series and the D35 Trophy. The syndicate is known for its advanced yacht design and sailing expertise.
