Caraga
Caraga is an administrative region of the Philippines, designated as Region XIII. It is located in the northeastern part of Mindanao and comprises five provinces: Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur; as well as six cities: Butuan, Cabadbaran, Bayugan, Bislig, Surigao, and Tandag.
The regional center is Butuan City. Caraga is largely known for its rich natural resources, including minerals, forests, and aquatic resources. Its economy is driven by agriculture, forestry, fishing, and mining.
The name "Caraga" is believed to have originated from the word "Kalag," which means "soul" or "people" in the local dialect. It is a historically significant region with influences from pre-colonial trade and interactions with various groups. The region has a diverse cultural heritage influenced by its indigenous populations, including the Manobo, Mamanwa, and Higaonon tribes.
