Alfred Morris (cricketer)

Alfred Morris (1891 – 1965) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Northamptonshire between 1920 and 1931. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler.

Morris made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire against Sussex in June 1920, scoring 35 and 3 in his two innings. He played regularly for the county in the early 1920s, but his appearances became more sporadic in later seasons.

His most successful season was 1921, when he scored 695 runs at an average of 26.73, with a highest score of 95 against Derbyshire. He also took 30 wickets at an average of 31.93 that season.

In total, Morris played 117 first-class matches, scoring 3,393 runs at an average of 18.64, with 12 half-centuries and a highest score of 95. He also took 74 wickets at an average of 40.00, with a best bowling performance of 5 for 72 against Somerset in 1921. He occasionally kept wicket.

Following his playing career, he served on the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club committee.
