Ahmad Said (politician)

Ahmad Said (born 10 February 1957) is a Malaysian politician. He served as the 10th Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of the state of Terengganu, Malaysia, from 2008 to 2014. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

Ahmad Said was appointed Menteri Besar after the 2008 general election, succeeding Idris Jusoh. His appointment was controversial due to internal disagreements within UMNO. During his tenure, he focused on economic development and infrastructure projects in Terengganu, including tourism initiatives.

He lost his position as Menteri Besar in 2014 following the 13th general election, despite Barisan Nasional retaining control of the state. He was succeeded by Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman. Following the change in government, Ahmad Said threatened to bring down the BN state government but later retracted his statement.

He has remained active in Terengganu state politics since leaving the office of Menteri Besar.
