Agrippa (astronomer)

Agrippa was a Greek astronomer who lived in the 1st century AD. He is primarily known for his observation of the occultation of the star by the northern part of the Moon. This observation is documented by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History. Pliny states that Agrippa made this observation in 92 AD, though some scholars interpret the date as 94 AD. Agrippa's purpose for the observation is unknown, but it is implied by Pliny that it was to verify the time of year. His observation provides valuable historical data for lunar motion calculations. Beyond this single recorded observation, little is known about Agrippa's life or other astronomical work. He is often referenced in astronomical databases and historical texts as a point of reference for lunar observation and 1st-century astronomy.
