Afon Alaw

Afon Alaw (River Alaw in English) is a river located on the island of Anglesey, Wales. It rises in the hills near Llyn Alaw, a large reservoir constructed in the 1960s to provide drinking water for Anglesey and parts of mainland North Wales.

The Afon Alaw flows in a generally southwesterly direction from the reservoir, traversing a relatively flat agricultural landscape. It is a relatively short river, joining with other smaller watercourses before eventually flowing into the Afon Cefni near Llanfair-yng-Nghornwy.

The river is important for local wildlife and supports a variety of fish species. It is also significant to the local community, historically providing water for agriculture and industry. The construction of Llyn Alaw significantly altered the river's natural flow regime.
