1928 U.S. National Championships (tennis)
The 1928 U.S. National Championships was a tennis tournament that was held at the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, New York City. The tournament ran from August 20 to September 3, 1928. It was the 48th edition of the U.S. National Championships and the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year.
Henri Cochet of France defeated Francis Hunter of the United States in the men's singles final to win his only U.S. National Championship title. Helen Wills Moody of the United States defeated Helen Jacobs, also of the United States, in the women's singles final to win her fifth U.S. National Championship title.
The men's doubles title was won by George Lott and John Hennessey, who defeated Gerald Smith and Fritz Mercur. Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman and Helen Wills Moody won the women's doubles title, defeating Edith Cross and Louise Raymond. The mixed doubles title was won by Betty Nuthall and George Lott, who defeated Helen Wills Moody and John Hawkes.
